Think: challenging enough to jack up your heart rate, but only a minute or less at a time. (i.e. 20 seconds of work, with 10 seconds of rest repeated several times).

It has been said that these short bouts of exercise over a period of time (3-5 days a week for 3 weeks) may improve the heart's pumping capacity and ability to transport oxygen throughout the body.
